First Baptist Church, Sanctuary Addition - Bremen, GA

Feeling growth as Atlanta suburbs push outward, First Baptist Church of Bremen, Georgia has basically outgrown their current Sanctuary building. Additionally, the needs, worship opportunities, maintenance and technology is simply not available in their existing structure. CTSM Architects has teamed with FBC to create a new Sanctuary building on their campus. This worship center will represent state-of-the-art facilities and technology, yet provide a traditional aesthetic. As construction has initiated, FBC looks forward to occupying their new Sanctuary in 2011.

First Baptist Church, Renovation for Children & Sanctuary Expansion/Renovation - Pinson, AL

Feeling the effects of a growing community, First Baptist Church in Pinson, AL realized the necessity to expand their facilities to minister to their congregation. Selecting CTSM Architects to help them redesign their Children's building to update and incorporate new technology has allowed them to address a portion of their needs. Additionally, their Sanctuary was becoming overcrowded while their feeling of community had diminished. By incorporating a balcony into the existing Sanctuary and expanding the main entry area to have a larger gathering space, their facilities could accommodate more people. First Baptist continues to prioritize their vision as they seek to move forward into the next design steps.

First Baptist Church, LaFayette, AL - Tower Replacement

After over 175 years in existence, First Baptist Church in LaFayette, Alabama realized the need to replace their aging signature Tower. Initially built with the original sanctuary, the Tower was fast degrading to the point of becoming a safety hazard. A second Tower built many years later was unfortunately in similar disrepair. Teaming up with CTSM Architects, an initial structural analysis determined the Towers were beyond the point of feasible repair. This launched a campaign for replacement resulting in a return to their historical roots as the new design carried both classical and new features in a single replacement Tower. The Tower interior was now open instead of having floors at each level as well as having a monumental stair from the street level to the Sanctuary level. In the fall of 2011, First Baptist Church renewed their landmark Tower in a dedication service that marks many more decades of use.

This 3-dimensional rendering was presented to the Church during the design of the Tower.

The floor plan showed the replacement Tower as well as renovation to their Parlor.

First Baptist Church, New Sanctuary Addition - Statesboro, GA

After experiencing tremendous growth following their addition of a new Children's wing and new Fellowship Hall, CTSM Architects has once again teamed up with First Baptist Church in Statesboro, GA as they undertake a monumental challenge in building a new Sanctuary. Clearly God has moved within the congregation as the pledges to build this project enabled them to follow through with construction on this 1200+ seat sanctuary. On the ground floor below the sanctuary, plans include a new music suite to further enhance their worship team. The upper level includes a balcony with audio, video and multi-media stations and a baptistry level with full dressing rooms. The recent completion of their new sanctuary enables First Baptist to continue growing and praising the Savior.

Woodlawn UMC, Replacement Facility - Birmingham, AL

On May 31, 2009, Woodlawn United Methodist Church saw a tragedy no one ever expects. Fire broke out during a Communion service causing immediate evacuation. First estabished in 1887, the Sanctuary that was built in 1909 represented a total loss of the historic church. While shaken by the fire, Woodlawn's spirit was not broken. They elected to team up with CTSM Architects who has partnered with a number of churches who had experienced tragedies. The result is a replacement facility that includes a new Sanctuary as well as an indoor basketball court, kitchen, classrooms, lunchroom and offices. They share some uses of the replacement building with Cornerstone Schools of Alabama. Consecrated for use as a Sanctuary on November 6, 2011, the new Woodlawn United Methodist Church building is ready to serve for another 100 years or more.

Brookwood Baptist Church, Renovation for Children - Mountain Brook, AL

As times change, so do the needs of churches. Brookwood Baptist Church in Mountain Brook, AL secured the services of CTSM Architects to do a major renovation of their preschool and children's facilities. This involved reworking interior partition layouts and consolidating the various rooms into cohesive suites for more efficient ministry and security. Since these programs involve formal preschool time periods, it was paramount to complete the work during the summer of 2009. Thus, this project was put on a fast track with the interior portions of work completed by the beginning of the school year in 2009. Brookwood has now reenergized their ministries with state-of-the-art facilities that has taken them to a new level of capabilities. In addition, they have renovated their Sanctuary and Fellowship Halls to maximize their use of those facilities.

Realizing an underserved area in Richmond, Virginia, Cobb Theatres has expanded their trademark CineBistro concept. CTSM Architects once again teamed with Cobb to design this one-of-a-kind facility in the Stony Point Fashion Park, a Taubman Development. With six (6) theatre houses, a full bar, restaurant facilities and in-seat service, the unique CineBistro presents the Richmond area with an incredible addition to their region. Open in Fall 2010, this dynamic facility offers the latest in theatre experiences.

Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Chapel Addition - Kansas City, MO

As Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary continues to grow, their existing chapel was inadequate to serve their student population. With a multitude of event possibilities that attract hundreds of people, their old chapel was simply inadequate. A larger capacity was needed. Thus, Midwestern teamed with CTSM Architects to design a 1,000 seat Chapel. In an effort to be good stewards of their funding, Midwestern also teamed with Builders for Christ, the largest Baptist volunteer construction mission group, to provide a large volunteer work force to help build their new chapel. Now, the new chapel will be the focal point of the Midwestern campus. With site construction beginning in March and volunteers arriving near the end of May, the new Chapel at Midwestern is on track for completion in the winter of 2011. This new addition will be a welcome new and modern facility to compliment the historic buildings on campus.

Following a tragic fire that gutted their existing Sanctuary, First Baptist Church in Fairhope, Alabama found themselves without a place to worship. CTSM Architects offered consultation during their insurance negotiations improving their ability to move forward with a replacement facility. Bolstered by that opportunity, First Baptist teamed with CTSM to design a state-of-the-art replacement Sanctuary with a Fellowship Hall, Youth Center and new Porte-Cochere drive-thru canopy. This major project has created quite a positive stir in the community as this prominent structure emerged. CTSM congratulates First Baptist on their vision in driving this exciting project to reality.

Asbury United Methodist Church, Youth Facility - Birmingham, AL

With continued success comes the need to expand facilities to accomodate the needs of their congregation and others to whom they minister. That realization spurred Asbury United Methodist Church to once again partner with CTSM Architects, their Architect for more than 15 years, to develop a Multi-Purpose Facility that will be used primarily for their Youth Ministry. This freestanding facility on the Asbury campus will enable an expansion of services as well as freeing up vital space within their existing facilities to expand their children's ministries. Thus, renovation in the existing building will be a follow-up phase once the new Multi-Purpose Facility is built.

In a unique opportunity to develop a multi-screen theatre near the Daytona Motor Speedway, Cobb Theatres with CTSM Architects has created an exciting new hybrid theatre/restaurant experience. With 14 screens, six of which include premium seating accessible only from a second floor restaurant, this theatre offers a visual cornucopia of design features. Cobb is hopeful that overall development will allow construction of this theatre to begin soon for a fall 2010 opening.

Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, New Entry Connector - Marietta, GA

Growth over the years created the need for multiple buildings, yet a cohesive method to join those buildings seemed elusive. CTSM Architects teamed with Mt. Zion United Methodist Church to develop a unique connector that doubles as a main covered entry point. This connector bridges buildings from multiple generations to become a single facility for Mt. Zion. Creative use of space, ramps, an elevator and other techniques were used to transition from the multiple floor levels into a single main entrance point. With this forward-looking design comes opportunities to continue their growth without the impedance of isolated structures. Now occupied, the Church is celebrating the unifying nature of this timely project.

Samford University, Student Center Expansion / Renovation - Birmingham, AL

Experiencing significant growth and desiring to increase and consolidate the services available to their students, Samford University has embarked upon an ambitious program to more than double their current Student Center. This project carries on the high quality of design known at Samford as well as incorporating a unique one-stop location for all student services. As the University and CTSM Architects develop this design for the maximum impact and exposure, the students will be the benefactors of an exciting new and highly service-oriented facility.

Landlocked in their current location, St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church took a bold step toward relocation. Finding appropriate property along College Street just north of town, St. Michael's construction is underway for their new facility. With classic lines, yet a hint of contemporary aesthetic, CTSM Architects designed their building to provide exciting new opportunities to minister to the students and other residents of Auburn, Alabama. Now at home in their new Church building, St. Michael's looks forward to a continuing impact on the lives of those in Auburn.

As an established downtown church, First Baptist Church in Enterprise, Alabama has a rich history. With the local area growing and more children being involved in their church, First Baptist realized the need to expand their children's program abilities. Construction has been completed on their three-story Education Addition that will drastically increase their capability to minister to children, but also bring cutting-edge technology and architecture to enhance those programs. CTSM Architects has been honored to partner with First Baptist to bring this vision to reality. The Dedication Service was held this past May 31, 2009.

Located in a fast-growing area of north Alabama, Lindsay Lane Baptist Church has grown faster than their facilities could hold. Their need for Children's Education space was critical, hence their latest project. With two floors of space for Preschool and Elementary children, CTSM Architects has designed this new addition to provide much needed area in which to expand their ministries. As construction was completed for the current school year, it has provided relief during this period of incredible growth.

From the heartbreaking loss of all their facilities to Hurricane Katrina in 2005, First Baptist Church of Long Beach, Mississippi now emerges a resurgence of commitment and steadfast hope. Now that this cutting-edge facility has opened, a new sense of purpose and expanded ministry opportunities abound. Nearly 60,000 square feet in size, CTSM Architects designed this new facility to incorporate hurricane-resistant construction techniques as well as an extremely flexible space utilization plan. With a Master Plan that allows for substantial expansion in the future, First Baptist is poised to minister to the region and beyond for many years to come.

Seizing an opportunity to capture an underserved community, Cobb Theatres and CTSM Architects have teamed up to develop a new type of theatre project. A unique concept of stadium tiered seating combined with an upper level premium theatre experience in tandem with the CineBistro dining experience, this exciting project opened in early fall 2008. As seen in these photos, cutting-edge concepts have become reality in this 16 house theatre just north of Tampa, FL.
